In early 2008 I was given the opportunity to escape the bitter cold of a South Bend winter for the warmer and sunnier climate of southern Texas. Meaghan and I had been researching moving to Austin for many months, and took the opportunity to visit her family in San Antonio as a means to visit the city. While we were there, staying with her uncle on Randolph Air Force Base, we visited Austin three times and fell in love with what will hopefully soon be our permanent residence.
While we were there, we got to visit the Alamo - and I was truly shocked to see that it was surrounded by tacky hotels. In the first piece in this series, I photoshoped out the background and put in a picture I had taken of the desert some time ago.
